Italy Sketchbook 6: Galleria Borghese


So this part of the trip was to the Galleria Borghese. This was actually a rather weird experience.You had to make reservation before hand to visit this gallery. They only allowed a certain number of people in for the 1 hour block. Both of these drawings were done in that time frame.

Above is Bernini's David. I remember this drawing being better then it looks now. I must have lost some crispness in the sketchbook.


This is Bernini's Apollo and Daphne which is an incredible statue. I took a rather unusual view of the statue and I like the page layout. In the foreground is most of Daphne's torso and in the background is Apollo's face.
